Week 5 Delivery; July 11, 2019
What’s in the box?
lettuce
cilantro
bagged spinach
green top carrots
green top beets
green onions
garlic scapes
bagged arugula
tender kale
summer squash
zucchini
Notes on the box.
Remove tops from carrots and beets for longer storage. Both are edible, though it’s a lot easier to cook up beet tops than carrot tops. See last weeks blog for some carrot top recipes.
Everything in the box should be stored in the fridge. Put lettuces and greens into plastic bag or container to keep them from getting wilted.
Cosmic Wheel Creamery Cheese Shares.
Our Whole Milk Ricotta! This is a favorite for many members. This ricotta is so good, you can think beyond just lasagna. I like it fresh on toast with a bit of arugula pesto on the bread, then the ricotta, a pinch of salt, a drizzle of olive oil, and a good amount of black pepper. Or you can have it sweet with a drizzle of honey.
Antares is our cow’s milk manchego. This one is great as a snack, on a cheese board with fruit, nuts, and cured meats, or grated on salads.

See last week for lots of good carrot top recipes.
Greek Beet Salad (uses beet tops, also)
On the Farm.
We want to invite you to come out to the farm on Saturday from 10-4 for the Co-op Eat Local Farm Tour! We will have tours every hour and burgers cooked up by our friends from Modern Times for sale starting at 11:00. We will have a farm store set up where you can buy farm goods including meat (bring a cooler with you) and cheese. If you have an Eat Like a Farmer or a Meat Share, you can pick up your share at the farm tour on Saturday if you’d like to. Bring a large cooler to put the frozen meat in. It’s going to be a fun day! If you bring a t-shirt, we can print on it to make you a Turnip Rock Farm/ Cosmic Wheel Creamery shirt! For directions, you can type Turnip Rock Farm into google maps and it will get you to the farm. If you come to the farm tour and are a CSA member, let us know! We love to meet our members. Let us know if you have any questions.
