This week is Moonglow, our Alpine style. It’s great on roasted brussels sprouts! Also our whole milk ricotta. This batch was drained a little more than I usually do, so it’s drier, but still delicious.

A fun demonstration of what a year of aging will do! Aquilla is our Jack Style cheese. One wedge is aged 3 months and the other is aged 15 months. The younger cheese is great for grilled cheese or nachos. The older cheese is great on a cheese plate and we lovingly call it our “potatochip cheese” because it’s hard to stop eating once you start!

Recipes.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Brussels Sprouts and Leek Gratin

Kabocha Squash Congee

Turnip Leek Soup

On the Farm.

The lady beetles are swarming and the garlic is getting planted! Sure signs of fall.

It’s really cooled off and the colors are looking great out here. I always hope they will hold onto their leaves for as long as possible, but wet and windy days tend to knock them off. We are busy getting things ready for their winter rest by cleaning up some beds and covering some for next spring. We will be planting garlic soon (upping our planting for more for next year!) We are having some improvements made on the middle section of our barn for future times when we can have folks out to the farm again.

Next Week.
