General Description: Our 40 acre farm is located just North of Bloomer WI, 80 mi. East of the Twin Cities. It consists of 36 tillable acres, 21 in pasture. 12 acres will be in annual and perennial vegetables, and the remainder will be in grains/ cover crop. We are situated next to an Amish saw mill, in a rural farming community. Bloomer is the closest town 7 mi. away with 5000 people and has most anything you might need.
2010 will be our second year in production at this farm. we will be growing for 200 member CSA for 19 weeks plus a 6 week storage crop share until Thanksgiving. We will also be growing for 4 restaurants in the twin cities and other wholesale accounts. Another major part of our farm is a pastured pork, we have 3 sows and raise pigs pre-ordered for our CSA members. We also have a bit of a homesteading bone in our body, so we do have a milk cow, and a small flock of laying hens. We do raise our own meat chicken and eggs, and may consider selling through the CSA.
We have managed to make a full time living on this farm for the two of us in just one growing season. We'd be happy to show you how we did it and give you the opportunity to work with us.
